Singer Banky W revealed that he is going to follow his dream as he will go to America to study filmmaking.
During a Rubbin’ Minds session with the presenter, Ebuka Obi
Uchendu, E.M.E. singer said he’s enrolling in a two month course in New
York.
“The thing that I am most excited about is that I’m going to New
York next week. I’m going for two months to study a course in directing
and filmmaking,” he said.
According to Banky W, it has been a long-standing desire of his and
that he has been part of the production of a number of music videos.
“Growing up, I have always written scripts and acted in my school
plays. What a lot of people don’t know is that a good majority of the
videos that we put out, I do the screenplay and come up with concepts
and sometimes, I co-direct or produce the videos. It’s something I want
to pursue and one of my goals for the year is to learn the technical
side of film making.”
He mentioned music video direction and advertising as areas he would
also like to get involved with, and as regards joining mainstream
filmmaking, Banky W sees it as an option.
Banky W (real name Olubankole Wellington) is a Nigerian R&B artist. He was born on March
27, 1981, in the United States to Nigerian parents. He established the
Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E.) record label as a platform to get
his music to his fans.
